Carol's explanation, as detailed in Rita's viral post, revealed something women with incontinence are dealing with daily.
"Before I tell you what I found," Carol said, "let me explain why we've both been struggling with these products for so long."
Through her research after the accident, Rita realized that women with incontinence have not only been fighting a battle against leaks… they’ve also been fighting a battle against products that simply don’t deliver on their promises.
Premium incontinence pads that shift and leak during unexpected moments.
"I wasted so much money on those expensive pads," Carol explained to Rita. "They failed me within minutes during my worst accidents, just like they failed you at the party."
Rita discovered these pads contain sodium polyacrylate and chlorine bleach that cause UTIs, mood swings from hormonal disruption, and burning sensations that last for hours after accidents.
They cost over $27 monthly, which is $300+ every single year! And create a bunch of waste for our environment.
Rita noted in her post: "Carol pointed out something obvious that I'd never considered - companies selling $300 worth of pads per year per customer aren't exactly motivated to create a one-time solution that works perfectly."
Adult incontinence diapers that sacrifice dignity for bulk.
"I tried those too," Carol admitted. "Sure, they catch leaks, but the bulk makes them impossible to hide - obvious lines under clothes, embarrassing crinkle sounds during normal activities."
They cost hundreds of dollars yearly, don't eliminate odor and they trap urine against your skin, creating bacterial overgrowth and stronger ammonia smells.
Leak-proof underwear that promises protection but fails during bladder leaks.
"This was my biggest disappointment," Carol told Rita. "I spent $90 hoping this time would be different, but they leaked through during my first real test and left me sitting in the wetness."
According to Rita's account, it seems obvious that none of these products truly gave the protection and comfort women with incontinence are looking for.
Rita wrote that Carol asked her: "The question is, how many more women will have their own version of Rita's birthday party humiliation because they were using these traditional solutions that fail time and time again?"
